AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR
(AED)

Automated External Defibrillators, or AEDs, are becoming more and more common. What are they? AEDs are computer run devices about the size of a small laptop computer and weighing less than 10 pounds. These little devices can deliver the electrical shock to the heart of victims of cardiac arrest that could save their lives. It has been proven that early defibrillation of a cardiac arrest victim drastically increases that person's chance of survival. Look around next time you are in a public building, casino, or even airport. Have you ever seen the glass enclosed case with a sign above it that looks like a lightening bolt? That was probably an AED.
